Producing

I love music because I love collaboration.
The human aspect is the most enjoyable part, but there is inevitably the logistical side, too. Making the phone calls, setting up the dates with the studio, figuring out the best combination of artists and material, asking the right questions to spark creative answers…
Sometimes I build a something from scratch, sometimes I join a team of collaborators and simply contribute my part, but below you can check out some projects where I take off my musician ‘hat’ and am more involved in the overall product.

During the wild COVID summer of 2020, I gathered my friends (masked up! hand sanitizer on!) to record a Christmas EP in Louisiana French and Louisiana Creole. Was it weird recording sleigh bells with the air conditioning blasting? Yes. Was that the weirdest thing about that year? No.
You can listen to it here.

Musicians I respect, obscure old tunes being rediscovered, the brilliant documentarians behind Roots of Fire, and the knowledgeable folklorists at UL’s Center for Louisiana Studies. Hosting this show is an absolute pleasure.

Here’s one of the tracks if you need a laugh.
